Colin Mcleod - Deceit - Chair Prediction

Many people who have now read the book have offered many kind things to say about it... here are just a few!

“...Colin offers 4 takes on the Chair test. Each being a logical progression on the last. His first, entitled "In the Beginning" is a simple yet somewhat unusual take on the effect that outlines the starting point from which Colin began on his journey to develop the effect he performs in his shows today.

The second version is entitled Chair Enigma, This highlights Colin's unique approach to his effects and Chair Enigma offers the reader a simple yet strong version that employs a subtle use of the Dual Reality concept. Often this concept disregards the effect for the participants on stage and focuses on the "bigger picture" of the overall audience. Im glad to say that Colin takes this into consideration and applies his thinking here to allow the on stage participants to be mind boggled as well as entertained.

The third of the series, Chair Enigma 2 takes off where the previous one ends. This is a somewhat streamlined version of Chair Enigma but with different visual element, and that of the seated participants are asked to produce drawings. The drawings can be revealed by the performer and then predicted from the outset in terms of where the participants chose to sit. The psychology & Dual Reality employed here is subtle yet strong enough to leave everyone amazed. Colin has worked hard to ensure that every element of the test seems explicably fair and above board.

The fourth and final version is Colin's current Stage show version, It is a close relation of Chair Enigma 2 with a mixture of 2 other successful chair tests that result in a very fair and deceptive routine that focuses on a logical yet powerful presentation. This is my personal favourite of the 4.

Overall Colin has produced a concise and informative journey into his thinking in this area. He has provided the reader with 4 routines that will play strong with the right presentation and offers up much food for thought in this area, even for the well read performers out there.”- Looch

'Deceit' by Colin Mcleod is a wonderfully new and fresh approach to the classic chair test. Colin shows us his playfully devious side and brilliant applications for contemporary mentalism in a KNOCK OUT routine that could very well be an opener, mid show piece or even the closer in your program. I really enjoyed this work and highly recommend it!' -Jerome Finley

"The routine is a fantastic one for when you want to slap your audiences across the face and leave them destroyed. Deceit allows you to take everything they believe about their free will and shock them to their core with your ability to control their every thought and decision. What's more I can see it playing perfectly for small parlour just as well as it does in Colin's stage show. I really enjoyed the depth of the discussions in this little beasty because I am left without any doubts as to why every decision has been made and exactly how he has gone about constructing a truly workable routine." - Kennedy

"Chair routines have become a modern classic for stage mentalists, unfortunately many have become a method puzzle and become confusing to watch for our audiences... I have actually heard people talking after a performers show saying " I had no idea what the chairs were about ?" FINALLY a routine that involves direct mind reading and predicting your spectators behavior that easy to "get" for the audience! I have become known for taking classic methods and building a performance around them, so I know a gem when I see it... and This is THE chair routine that you will love to perform and more importantly your audience will be amazed to watch.” - Andrew Gerard
